Wind Map

This work is a prototype to demonstrate the outcome of my research with Thermochromic Liquid Crystals (TLCs) and was created by painting TLCs onto glass panels. The design derives from the meteorological charts showing isobars and the dynamically changing air pressure indicating the strength and direction of wind during the day. As the temperature changes, the design will slowly change and the pattern appears to move. It is very slow and subtle - not a disco light show!

This is a time-lapse video recording the changes due to temperature fluctuations over time. The recording was made over a period of about 4.5 hours and has been compressed into just over 1 minute in this video.
